Install boot camp for mac5/1/2023 ![]() So, check out the list of compatible models of Mac that can run Windows OS below: Thanks so the guidance.First, you will have to verify that you meet the system requirements for installing Windows 10 on your Mac computer. I moved it directly onto the C: drive and changed some of your syntax and got it to work this way (finally): I couldn't get CMD to run from either the downloads folder or the desktop. So, here's what I discovered and learned: I think you both are highly skilled and assume certain things that trip up newbs like me. I found some of your instruction a little clearer here, and so I combined your and Macenied's approach. Thank you so much for your contribution here as well. So, God bless you for your postings here!!! I could not have gotten the courage to pursue this without you, Macenied. THis just completely worked without a hitch!Īnyway, it took me forever! (6-8 hours at least). When you press the "option" key for boot options, you NEED to choose the DVD-WINDOWS option. Here's the deal for anyone trying and failing: You NEED to use the DVD iso approach. I tried a bunch of things on the Mac end - via Disc Utility that were not fruitful. I also tried the DVD-approach by booting to EFI. ini approach to flash drive via a recommended boot installer. I tried the Win10-64 flash drive from the Media Creation Tool. My attempts at installing were stalled at the partition and format point of installation on multiple attempts. However, I wanted to go to the 64-bit version of Windows 10 and was willing to pursue a Clean Install. For whatever reason, this was a non-issue when I initially used Bootcamp (years ago) to install Win7-32 bit and no problem for doing the in-place upgrade to Windows 10-32. Like many others, I came across the conflict of MBR from Windows with the EFI GPT partition drive that Mac wants the "hybridized" partition problem. My big issue (took hours!) was a boot installation problem. Re: "Installing the free Paragon HFS driver for Win 8/8.1" Brilliant! Thanks so much. I searched thru the Registry manually and couldn't find them. Here's what I did: I dragged both the "applehfs.sys" and the "applemnt.sys" files to the Recycle bin. Q: Are you referring to a particular tool? Do you have a link? (Apparently "autoruns" are use by viruses, and even searching for this on Google took me to shady places and corrupted the Microsoft site on one browser.) I can't find any such "Autorun" download on Microsoft's site. I think I might have lost an hour on this. Re: "Disable the BootCamp applehfs.sys driver" via "MS tool "Autorun" to disable it. Q: Is there a particular location to do this? Win10 allows you to "defer" - but that just delays them. Re: "Disable Auto Update Drivers of Windows:" Because EVERYTHING seems to work that I've tested so far. There are actually a bundle of driver files that 4 includes that aren't seemingly (obviously) in 5. I compared driver file folders for BC4 and BC5. Windows did finish it's first auto-update before I knew how to stop it. Maybe that's only applicable for the 320 graphics card. You refer to needing BC 4 drivers for NVidia Chipset drivers. Re: Installing the Bootcamp 5 drivers: Awesome! For my system, everything seems to work just fine. Mine is a 17" with k7 and 330 NVidia graphics. Here are my notes on my process that worked, including some questions for Macenied - in case this helps save time for anyone else: Macenied - I am SO INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL for your posting here! I found your ideas initially on this thread: Wait until the update is finished.Īfter doing the above procedure, the driver of the devices listed in the Device Manager with yellow question marks were all installed smoothly. T) Driver -> Update driver -> Browse my computer for driver software -> C:\Insttemp WX\BootCamp\Drivers\NVidia\NVidiaChipset64\SMBUS and click next. S) In device manager, navigate to "Other devices - SM Bus Controller" and select it R) Driver -> Update driver -> Browse my computer for driver software -> C:\Insttemp WX\BootCamp\Drivers\NVidia\NVidiaChipset64\SMU and click next. Q) In device manager, navigate to "Other devices - Coprocessor" and select it P) Extract the downloaded file to C:\Insttemp WX ( so that you can see a C:\Insttemp WX\Bootcamp folder after extraction ) O) Copy the downloaded file to C:\Insttemp WX Voila!!! All drivers will install automatically via Boot Camp."Īfter successful bootcamp installation, i followed your additional instructions to wit: Note: We are using CMD/PowerShell to bypass Elevated Permissions for MSI Installer CD (change directory) into BootCamp/BootCamp/Drivers/Apple.Run CMD or PowerShell as administrator (Use the combination Shift fn F10 for right-click).the following instructions also worked with my (unsupported) MBP: we have the same Macbook Pro 13inch mid-2010 model.
